The freaks come out at night

October 31, 2021

Happy Halloween Weekend everyone. Sorry for the delay of the updates and article.

Lets get started with game one. Manville Pizza and Vescera Law went at it in the early going. MPP would get the party started with sub getting them on the board first. Greg Landry and Dan Dussault set it up. Nick Nardone would extend the Pizza's lead Set up by Shane McCormick and Craig Pizzo. This put Nick Nardone at the top of the stats list in his rookie season. Vescera Law got their collective motors running. Rob Edelman would get them on the board early and often. He would be helped by Richie Dias. Deja vu all over again, Richie would set up Edelman to tie the game. Manville would get out ahead again with Shane McCormick getting on the board from Rick Mercuri and Nick Nardone. At the bitter end of the first, Vescera Law would tie the game once again. Kevin Schleicher would take a little trip, coast to coast and finish the trip with a pill in the pocket. He was set up by Eric Robichaud. In the Second Manville Palace Pizza would take the lead once again. Craig Pizzo would pull the low to high pass off the boards from Rick Mercuri and find the back of the net through a forest of legs in front of the goalie. The jubilation would not last. Nate Arudda would mirror the efforts of their rival. He would take the low to high pass from Rob Edelman and bury it with a quick one timer. Edelman would complete his hat trick with a goal a few shifts later. The gap was getting wider from the two teams. The captain of the team, Bill Vescera confided in this reporter, that he wished he could do that? When asked what he meant, scoring a one timer? He said "No, just getting a goal". And we both shared a laugh. His next shift, Bill Vescera grabbed the cross slot pass on his off hand, then backhanded into the net. He was set up by Schleicher. I believe Bill should make more wishes. Two more goals before the final whistle from Richie Dias and Doc Manzo, would seal the deal. Vescera would win 8-4.

In game two, although not as many goals were scored as the last game, this was exciting. Green Goddess got on the score board early with Andy Morrison finishing from Neil Yee. It wouldn't take long for Quck Dam to get it tied up. Eric Campbell would find the back of the net for the Dam, using yours truly as a blocker and shooting it through me. He had help from the goalie and Jarred Martin. This would light a fire on the QD bench. The next goal would be as time was winding down in the first. Frank Nardone would get it in the net from Ed Cardoso and Shawn Smith. early in the second, Quick Dam would extend the lead with Shawn Smith setting up Nardone again to take the two goal lead. Goddess was getting a bit down on themselves. Morrison would pick up their spirits and cut the lead. Set up again by Yee and Al Whitton. At the drop of the puck, Morrison would repeat, with Yee and tie the game. New game going into the 3rd. In the third, just 4 minutes in, Matt Connell (yep little ole me) skated into the pass from Jay Cinq-Mars, and putting the one timer on net. Neil Yee would tuck in the rebound. That would be the end of the scoring for both teams. Green Goddess, even with 20 extra seconds at the end, would still win. 4-3.

In the late game of the evening, Edge Doctor and Final Touch would round out October. Edge Doctor would come out and score in the first shift. Kreg Labelle would take the feed from Mike Thomas and Brian McDonald. In the next shift, the Doctor would extend the lead. Eric Rondeau would find the back of the net. Late in the first Final Touch would get on the board. Dan Clare set up the mystery guest. Rich Laplant would help as well. The Doctor would be on call and get on the board again early in the second. Kreg Labelle would get an unassisted on a break away. Turned out to be the game winner. (spoiler). Rondeau would get the next one from Adam Babikian for some insurance. Still early in the game, Final Touch would cut the lead in half, with the Goats connection. Dan Clare would bury the goal from Mark Ferreira and Steve Owens. It would not be enough as their captain had to abandon ship from injury. She will be ok, but it stinks. One more goal in the third from Edge Doctor, Mike Thomas would seal the deal from Kreg Labelle. In the end, the score would be 5-2.

Did anyone notice that their was a lot of family in the rink tonight. There were 3 Meegans and 4 Dussaults. A real Family Affair. Buffy, Jody and Mr. French would be very proud.

Hope all have a safe Halloween.

Congratulations to Ricky And Marissa. Now known as Mr. and Mrs. Votta. They tied the knot on Saturday. We love you guys! We hope you have a long and happy life together.
