April 4th Games

April 9, 2014

In the most important regular season game of the year it was The Happy Couple making all the difference in the world.  Shannon Caverly and Gary Ouillette scored Four of Manny's Five goals, two each, and Caverly set up a Fifth goal, leading Manny's, the soon to be crowned President's Trophy winner, to a 5-1 drubbing of the flat Manville Pizza squad.  Ouillette started the scoring a little over a minute into the contest, and His significant other, Caverly, proceeded to set up and score the next three goals berfore allowing Her Man to put the finishing touches on a game that was surprisingly lopsided.  Manny's now has a Four point lead over The Pizza and 401 Consulting, with each team having just two games left in the season.  The loss for The Pizza could turn out to be curcial because they went into the game knowing that a win would put them in the driver's seat with control of first place based on the tie breakers, but instead the loss has them in a tie for second place, and 401 Consulting is now in control of the tie breaker.

401 Consulting continued to be the hottest team in the league, moving into second place with a 7-5 win over Roman Law.  Brian Beck scored four goals while his brother Kenny added two assist along with two penalties.  Jay Cinq-Mars scored two goals and an assist for The Law.

Final Touch slipped past Vescera Law 2-1 picking up their Fifth win this season.  Tommy Gaboreault scored one goal and set up another, and Mike Yuszczak played outstanding in net, nearly completing a shutout before His Centerman lost a late faceoff deep in the zone.  Captain Aheb when reached after the game said, "I lost that face off because I wasn't paying attention, sloppy on my part, and it cost The Wall the shutout.  In spite of me blowing the shutout, The Wall made a spectacular save in the last minute of the game to preserve the win.  Kevin Tondreau got the puck in close all alone, but somehow Yuszczak was able to deny his good buddy from scoring the equalizer.  I'll tell you what, if UZ plays like that in the playoffs, we'll be a tough team to beat.  Stay Thirsty My Friends!"
