Manny's Hockey Shop Completes The Journey! Winter Champs 2019

April 7, 2019

As the winter comes to an end, so does the 2018-19 NRIAHL Winter Hockey Season. This weekend was as intense as any competitive tournament. The captains did a fantastic job putting together teams for great action, every Friday night. In the end it came down to two teams. Both teams were at the top of the standings at the end of the season. Here we go, the drop of the puck and the action begins. The two teams went back and forth for the better part of the first period. It would be under a minute left in the first when Mike Thomas of Manny's would crack the score sheet. In the second, it was who will blink first time. Votta Properties was all over the gold of Manny's but Mike Baro was on his game, making save after save. 180 feet away, Jason Pires would stand on his head between the pipes giving his team the chance to tie the game. Late in the third, Andy Morrison would finally get past Baro on a rebound after a scramble in front of the goal keeper. For the second time in 2 nights the regal purple would be in an overtime. Through those intense 5 minutes, neither team would give an inch. On to the shoot out, much like the night before, Votta would be put in a position to get 'er done. Mike Strayer would get the goal in the shoot out for the purple. Joe Martin, in his swan song as he is retiring from Friday night league play, put the puck in the net for Manny's. Manny's next shooter would be Steve Owens, putting the puck upstairs where nana is napping and then canoe home! Mike Baro, would stuff the last shooter giving Manny's the Championship!!!

It was a hell of a game. Congrats to Votta for an awesome season. Manny's pulled off an amazing season, congratulations!!!
