The Matty Chronicals: Your Generosity is not Surprising

March 24, 2017

Welcome readers and hockey fans. As you may or may not know our friend Rob Schaivones home was lost in a fire. The good news is they all made it out and have a place to stay and are safe. The bad news, they have lost all their stuff. Our little hockey community has stepped up brilliantly, thank you folks. Hopefully things will get better for them soon.

Kudos to Eric Campbell, This Year's Scoring Champion!

Final Touch and Roman Law were both vying for the first place spot. The Touch were in playoff form as Peter Meegan scored in the first shift at the same time Governo missed it because he was in the pissah. Meegan would score 3 and Governo would score one and the defense of Andy Meegan, Chris Bach, Paul Praderio and Matt Connell, and the goaltending of Dan Albertelli kept a determined Roman Law off the score board. One thing that stands out in this game, Roman Law never gives up. They skated 100% from the opening face off to the final buzzer.

Manny's Hockey Shop and Green Goddess would skate it out in the second game of the night. Derek Signoriello would lead the Gold with 2 cap off goals and an early assist. The goaltending of Rob Schaivone was stellar and the Goddess were green with envy as they could only muster up a single goal. Of course the goal scorer was Shane Mcshane shane, McCormick. Mannys would win this one in good form. They look playoff ready and this reporter can see them raising the trophy for back to back championships.

The final game of the night had huge implications for playoffs. Who would get Friday night off? Earlier in the evening Roman was now out of the top spot with Final Touch winning. It would be up to Manville Palace Pizza to get more than a 10 goal differential to win the presidents trophy. Well, Manville scored 10 goals. Unfortunately MSCCC scored 5. Mike Thomas would get the Hat and Brian Pendi Pendergast would get 2 goals, one from a beautiful pass by SHOWTIME!!!! Unfortunately 6 goals by the "1040 KID" and the game winner by Dan Dussault, would be enough for the Pizza to take this one.

This is why we play this long winter season. PLAYOFFS BABY!!!!

It has been a long season. Lots of ups and downs, most of the season the top spots have been between Roman, Manville and Final. We all know that the top team rarely wins the championship. Yet they do get the bye? Final Touch won the top spot in the summer and lost to the eventual champions in a shoot out. The best thing about this league, is everyone has a shot at the trophy right down to the wire. Good luck to all. We will see you next weekend.

Live, Breathe, Love.................HOCKEY!!!

Please enjoy this hockey song.
