The Matty Chronicles

North Smithfield- or -The Hub Of the Universe-

Standing in the rain, with his head hung low. Couldn't get a ticket, it was a sold out show. Heard the roar of the crowd and like distant scream, he heard one guitar. Yep, Eric Robichaud brought one guitar and it rained.

The season is winding down and the top is heavy in the standings. Manville Pizza Palace has dominated the top all season. Watch out, Final Touch is making a late push and haven't lost since May. Final Touch had their hands full with Roman Law. Tommy Lee Martin played the game of his life, keeping the Law at bey. On the other side of the score sheet, Shane McCormick would get a hat trick and had an assist. Apparently, it is not the right way to play hockey, going fishing after the puck is thrown in the ocean. For Roman Law, the line of Joe Martin, Shawn Smith and Andy Morrison, each scored, and got an assist on the three goals. It wasn't enough as Final Touch would pull ahead in the second for good.

In the second game, Green Goddess had a commanding 3-1 lead thanks to Eric Robichaud being fed twice by Derek Franco in the same shift in the second. Votta Properties would come back quickly and make it 3-2 at the end of the second. The Goddess would answer still in the second and grab the 4-2 lead. The Big V would chip away early in the 3rd and put the pressure on the Goddess. it was Steven Abertelli who would tie the game in the mid part of the third. Votta would hold on to the tie and remain the big threat for the playoffs.

In the final game of the evening, while many of us were feeding our faces, (thanks Joe Martin and Jim Meegan), Vescera Law was making waves on the ice. Bill Vescera would start the scoring in the game and never look back. Greg Landry would do the heavy lifting with a Hat Trick and pulling the Law way ahead. It would be possibly due to 5 subs playing for the Law. Whatever happened, it put the pressure on Manville Pizza closing out the season in first place. Mark Kosinski would get both goals for Manville and be set up by Steve Manning on both, along with Jodi Pachomski. Manville has 2 games left to prove their league dominance.

What a night, what great games. I love this league.

Hope you all had a great time.

See you all next week.
